Another Month Flew By!!!

I can't believe it's been a month since I posted! Sorry to leave you out of the loop...

We are ready to take Christmas portraits for cards and to give as gifts, so if you want to schedule a session, let me know.

We also have a parenting class scheduled to start on the 16th, and would love to have a few more parents enrolled.

It's been a very busy month! I just looked back at the calendar...National Night Out block party, networking every week, a marriage workshop to see what we could learn to pass along to the students in our parenting classes, making new friends and having dinners with them, several webinars, a retirement lunch, and a retirement party, a booth at the Fall Festival, a BBQ with church friends, Zumba, a financial seminar, Trunk or Treat on Halloween, lunch with friends, and a BBQ with some cousins I haven't seen in decades.... No wonder I didn't make time to blog! I really should do this more often tho. I could give some details and maybe even share some of the neat things I've learned. Guess I should put blogging on my calendar! Might get done then.

I'm supposed to do something this coming Friday night, but I can't remember what it is, and I didn't put it on my calendar when I was emailing with the person about it, so now I don't know. If you know, please tell me. I hate to miss things! Especially when someone is expecting me. Senior moments are all too frequent these days. I thought I put it on the calendar right then, but must have gotten distracted. Sometimes multi-tasking is not the best option.

Well, the time change has made me sleepy earlier than usual, and I never got in there for the nap I had planned earlier, so guess I'll head that way soon.

Retirement party....x2

It's been a busy week! Went to the UT retiree party on Tuesday at lunch. Felt kinda strange to be there. I think I was one of the youngest, maybe THE youngest retiree there. Sat with some really nice people.

Yesterday, I went to a retirement party for 4 of my friends from my old job. Felt kinda strange to be there too! Nice to see the ones who were left tho, and a few who don't work there anymore who also went. There were too many friends missing tho.

I'm still loving my "new" job. It's not really new since I've been there since mid-June. I'm still learning and doing new things. Always interesting.

Well, must do last minute getting ready for the Fall Fest booth tomorrow. Packing up framed photos to take, and a bunch of other stuff.

Busy, busy, busy!!!

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted anything.
Working 30 hours a week and working on our two businesses, photography and parenting classes, keeps me very busy!

Things are falling into place. We had a good meeting yesterday with someone who could possibly help get more people in our parenting classes. That's a great thing for us and for the parents! I hope to get the e-newsletter out this evening, since I don't have any meetings or webinars tonight. If you want to get the newsletter, let me know and I'll add you to the list. It has parenting tips and I only send it out once or twice a month. I could do it every week if I could get a system going and take time to do it. There is lots of good info to pass along.

It's been so long since I posted, I'm sure a lot has happened, but I can't remember what.
I met a lot of people at the Bebe Palooza event last weekend. I would never have imagined some of the neat things the vendors had to sell for babies and families. I decided it would be a good idea to collect all of their brochures and business cards and put them into a resource notebook for parents who take our classes to look through to see if there is something they might want or need.
We keep a resource list of vendors for our Wedding Photography clients, so I figured it would be a good idea for the parents too.

Well, guess I'd better get back to work!

REALLY been a long time....

I'm still loving my new job! I'm not tied to my desk. I get to do all kinds of fun stuff, like run around downtown delivering documents. I can walk the Shoal Creek trail at lunch, and there is a park right across the street with nice tables in the shade, and a homeless guy that has lunch there and takes a nap a lot. I left him a banana while he was sleeping one day. Wonder what he thought when he woke up.
I can even walk to Whole Foods and Amy's Ice Cream at lunch. Always take my umbrella since I got drenched one day. It was sunny when I went into Whole Foods and pouring when I came out 10 minutes later. Learned my lesson that day! Always take the umbrella and keep a change of clothes and shoes in the car!

Well, gotta run deliver some documents!

been a while!

Well, I've been busy! Sending job hunting info to my friends who got caught in the second round layoff, sending out the parenting tips newsletter, hoping to enroll enough students in the parenting class next week. Working. Still loving my job! Visiting with friends and family.

I'm too sleepy now to think of what else to say, so I'll do better in the next few days!

EXTRA POST TODAY!!!

Oh, my gosh! I just found out a bunch of my friends from my old job are unemployed. They had another layoff today! Nine more people! Plus two that are retiring. Good for them that they can! Please say prayers for all of them that things will work out as well for them as they have for me. I've been very blessed!

I'm going to send a couple of emails and then go to bed.

Life goes on....

My sister got another dog the next day. She is a sweet little dog! Doesn't bark, bite, growl, jump on you, slobber on you, etc. She's small and her fur is very soft. She has a sweet little face and likes to cuddle. Perfect for my sister! I like her and I'm not really a dog person because a lot of them do all those things I listed above.

I went to the YLC networking luncheon today at Sherlock's. It was drizzly when I went in. I took my umbrella, but really should have put on my rain boots! It was pouring pretty hard while I was inside. There was a river running through the parking lot when I came out, and it was still raining. I had to run through about 2-3 inches of water to get to my car, and then it was sitting in the middle of a lake about 6 inches deep. I'm not kidding! The water was up to the bottom of the car! My jeans were soaked almost to my knees, and my shoes were so full of water it splashed out when I stepped into the car. I took them off right away. I had to blot the insides of my shoes out with a bath towel when I got home today! I'm so thankful I had extra shoes in the car. I took off my wet socks and wore sandals the rest of the day, but at least my feet were dry! I got off work in time to get home before more rain and bad traffic. Tomorrow is supposed to be 98 and not raining. I would just love a happy median. This is some crazy weather!

Saturday is some serious housecleaning to get ready for a family and some friends party on Sunday afternoon. We haven't had one of those here in a while. Long overdue.

Well, it's going to be a busy day at the office tomorrow, and Friday I have to get the billing done, so guess I'd better hit the pillow soon.

Oh, and please say a prayer for my new friend, Donna, who has been unemployed for over a year (March), that she find the perfect job for her! Thanks, everyone.

Busy, busy, busy.....

Haven't blogged since before the wedding we photographed on the 17th. Busy getting ready for it, then busy with it, then busy getting photos ready for the happy couple when they return from the honeymoon cruise. They are back tomorrow, well, actually right about now.

It was an interesting, but mostly quiet week at the office. My boss was gone until Thursday. Thursday and Friday were busy tho, with catching up!
He'll be gone again this coming Friday. Going to the beach for the weekend. I miss wiggling my toes in the sand. May have to get a sandbox for the backyard. :) Doesn't look like we'll actually make it down there this year.

Went to Coupland for BBQ with church friends last night.

Went to stamp group with a bunch of friends today after church today. Fun was had by all!

Got a call from my sister a while ago that my other sister's dog died tonight. I must go see her tomorrow. I'm sure she is very sad. Sammy was her baby!

Tomorrow could be a busy day at work so guess I'd better hit the pillow.!

I'll blog sooner this time since it's not so crazy now that the wedding is past.

I have windows!

I have nice windows in my new office. There is a squirrel that runs up and down the tree right outside the window that my desk faces. It's nice to have windows again.

Today, I put together a coat rack for the office. Still doing a little decorating. Our open house is this Wednesday after work, so we'd better be about finished! We are waiting for one more piece of artwork for the wall behind my desk. I would actually like to see something at the top of the stairs right outside our door besides a blank, white wall. I mentioned that to the boss today. We'll see where it goes.

Well, I should go find my pillow soon, so I can get up in the morning, before it IS morning.

Meant to post last night.....

Yesterday was an adventure! It got me pretty wet at lunchtime! It was sunny when I headed out to walk four blocks to Whole Foods, but raining pretty hard when I came out of the store. I ran back to my office, but was drenched. I had a dry shirt in the car, but my jeans were soaked. I learned two lessons from that. Take my umbrella even if the sun is shining, and keep extra clothes in the car!

We had to borrow a kid from some church friends to go to Pioneer Farms today. Precision Camera had a special event there today where they had cameras to "loan" to the kids (one per family) and had a scavenger hunt. The kids were supposed to go around and take photos of different things to get a prize. The prize was an Amy's Ice Cream coupon. We had a lot of fun! We got there about 9:10 and stayed two hours. It was starting to get a bit toasty by the time we left.

We stopped at DQ for lunch on the way to take our "rent a kid" home. He got a kick out of the "rent a kid" comment. When I went to the door to pick him up and his mom answered the door, I said, "Is this rent-a-kid?" We all laughed. It was a fun day at the farm. He took a bunch of pictures with the camera, then we bought it (at a discount). It's a nice little digital camera that takes photos and videos. I haven't seen the pics yet. I guess E loaded them on the computer already. I'm curious to see how they turned out.

Now, gotta get back to working on things for the wedding we are photographing next week, since we are meeting with the bride and groom tomorrow.

I think I'll take a little nap first....

shopping!

I got to spend a bunch of my bosses money yesterday on office supplies and equipment. Today I spent some more on a new chair for me and a mat to go under it. I did save him about $300 tho by giving him an idea to save some money on something we need for the office, so he's happy about that.
Next week we have an open house for some clients and people who have inspired him to go out on his own. I'm thankful they did so that I have this great job with a wonderful boss!

My sister is much better. She spent the weekend, Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon, with us. She is getting stronger, but still has to go in for day surgery to zap the kidney stone that was a big contributor to her hospital stay. Don't know why they didn't zap it while she was in there.

We went to Angel Springs this afternoon to scout some things for the wedding we are photographing on the 17th. I still have some planning of shots for it. I have a long list but need to match it up to the schedule the wedding coordinator sent to us. We meet with the bride and groom Sunday afternoon.

Amy and Mikey are coming Friday evening for the weekend. We plan to spend part of Saturday at Pioneer Farms, then float in the pool. They'll be heading home after breakfast on Sunday morning. Then it's back to working on wedding strategy.

Busy, busy, busy, but loving what we do!

What a week!

It's been a busy week at work. My boss was out most of the day Wednesday, all but 20 minutes of Thursday and came in about 3:40 today before I left at 4:00 to get my sister from the hospital and bring her home with me so she can regain some strength before going to her home. She lives alone (except for her dog), so I didn't want her going there yet.
Thankfully, my niece heard a very strange voicemail from her and went over to check on her!
She almost died Sunday from kidney failure and dehydration, caused mostly from infection and a huge kidney stone blocking her urinary tract I suppose. They are supposed to zap it next week. She is certainly feeling better than she was a few days ago.
Please keep her (Tina) in your prayers.
And be sure to drink plenty of fluids this summer, and if you are sick more than a couple days, GO TO THE DOCTOR before you end up in the ER and ICU!
As soon as we hear from the pharmacy that her meds are ready and can go get them, I'm going to bed! Hopefully to sleep in a bit in the morning. Depends on my nursing duties. :)
I love my sister, so I don't mind.

A great week and a half

Well, it has been a whirlwind week and a half, but the office is shaping up nicely. I'm learning neat new things. A new adventure every day.
Haven't made it out to walk in the park yet. Maybe next week. I love my new job!

Been a while!

I've been busy! My new part time job hasn't been part time!
I worked 8.5 hours last week on Wednesday, 8 on Thursday, 10 on Friday, 10 this week on Monday, 8 yesterday, and 6.5 today. Only reason today was short was because I took a two hour lunch to go to my networking luncheon. I have much to do tomorrow, so don't know how long I'll be there. This first couple of weeks is pretty crazy settling into the new office. It is really shaping up! A little more decorating before our open house in a couple of weeks. Lots of little things to take care of.
I love my new boss. He's really nice and has a sense of humor! Never a dull moment. I don't even realize when I'm there for 10 hours. There are so many new things to learn and do.
I met his wife on Friday. She's really nice too, and a hugger! We connected right away.
I'll get to meet the rest of his family - his dad, siblings, and his 4 children - when we have the open house.

My sister thinks I need to rename my blog to "going back behind the desk"..... but I'm not always at the desk at this job! I get to run errands and shop too! And there are lots of trips around the corner to the "copy room" - it's really just on the other side of the wall from my desk, so not far.

Well, better get to bed so I can get up early. Busy day tomorrow!

One More Day!

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days.
One more day before I go back to work. Much to do before I don't have my days free to work on businesses. I was originally going to start working on Tuesday, but no phone or net until Wednesday, so not much to do. Furniture is being delivered on Friday. Shopping for supplies, etc. on Thursday, I think. It's going to be a busy week!

Had two Monday meetings. Have the 4th session parenting class Tuesday (that would be tonight now...)so I have to prepare for that, and have my regular Tuesday morning meeting.

Guess I should hit the pillow, or as my sister says, "time for my head and my pillow to spend some quality time together..." so, hopefully I'll have time to blog before I go to work and then to let you know how it's going in the next few days.

busy few days!

I tried to post one night, but the site was down for some reason. Probably because it was the middle of the night and they were updating or something.
I was home all day Saturday tackling my "to do" list.
Had a meeting after church on Sunday and then did some grocery shopping. We have to eat!
Monday morning meeting, and afternoon meeting, then stopped by the old office to visit a bit, before going to a Young Living meeting in the evening. I ate way too much that day!

Tuesday morning, a YLC meeting then home to prep for parenting class last night. It is going well. Seems like the students are really getting a lot out of it. We have another one scheduled to begin the 17th if you know of anyone interested.

Today was the YLC monthly luncheon. Met a few new people. Connected for some possible wedding networking. More of that next Monday, before I start work.

Tonight was one of the photography webinars that is a year long series we are studying. Some weeks there is only one, but there are weeks coming up that there are 3 or 4 nights which is going to make for a really busy week when we have a parenting class on the one free night. The webinars are recorded, so I suppose I could skip a night or two and double up on the weekends. I don't want to get behind tho, because there is homework too. I already missed the second one, which was last week, so I'll be catching up with it as soon as they post it. Probably Sunday afternoon.
I really want to be cloned!

For now, better get to bed. Big day of shooting photos tomorrow!

Seems like ages!

Sorry I haven't posted since last week.
We left Friday morning for Dallas for my great nephew's graduation. Got a call on the way that E's brother-in-law had died, so as soon as we got back from Dallas on Monday afternoon, we repacked and headed for the Valley for the funeral. It was a couple of whirlwind trips!
We got back late last night to a dark house with no power. Fun driving back in the storm! Glad E was driving when we hit the rainy stretch! It let up a bit by the time we got home so we didn't get too wet unloading the car.

The Dallas trip was fun. The graduation was nice. Only 40 kids - a private, Christian school. My nephew had 4 cars in a car show on Saturday and won everything he could win in the classes he was in - including Best of Show, plus several door prizes, and the pot for the show. It was a fundraiser so half of the pot went to the ticket holder, the other half to charity. They were all very happy the show went so well.

The Valley trip was not so fun.... We did get to see a lot of E's family that we hadn't seen in 3 years since his mom's funeral, and I got to meet some I hadn't met before. We got to see our grandson. He's grown a lot! We didn't go to the beach, so no toes in the sand for me. :(
And I'm still pale, but at least no sunburn and peeling!
We didn't even drive through our old neighborhoods to see our old "homes".... maybe next time. Decided it would probably be depressing anyway.

I have a job interview tomorrow. It sounds like the perfect job for me. I'll post more later. Don't want to jinx it!

Right now I have to go get ready for a women's entrepreneur networking event this afternoon/evening.

As for today, I had a meeting this morning, and one this evening. In between was a really nice retirement party for a dear friend of 20 years! Wish we could take another trip to Europe together soon! Guess I'd better get busier making more money! :)

computer locked up...

Didn't blog on Monday because about the time I was going to, which was really very early Tuesday morning, my computer decided it was tired and locked up.
I was too tired to wait for it to restart..... so I went to bed.

Here it is very early Wednesday morning.... Where did Tuesday go? We had a meeting at 8:30 where we presented our Sensible Parenting business. The presentation went very well. Several people came up to me afterward to comment that they had learned something. Hopefully they will refer students to us, or possibly decide to be students themselves!

Saw a friend I hadn't seen in a long time... about 6 years. We have decided to get together more often! Said goodbye to another friend who is moving away on Sunday. :(

Had a good parenting class and now am ready to go to bed.

Another long day Wednesday. Meeting at 8:30, lunch class at 11:30, Mom-sitting in the evening. Time to do her nails again while Sis goes to teach a class.

May not get around to posting on Wednesday evening, since I'll get home pretty late.

too tired

I was too tired to blog on Saturday, and I've actually missed Sunday, since it's Monday morning now.

Sunday was a good day for us, but very strange for some others. Gave blood before church, then one of my friends who gave blood passed out during the last hymn. They took her to the hospital. She was there for several hours but is ok and went home. Got dehydrated. So, if you are going to give blood, please remember to eat a good meal and drink LOTS of water the day before and the day of.

After church we headed out on a photo expedition. Found a few interesting things to photograph, but not what I was looking for. Some days are like that. There was a terrible accident in Circleville. We said a prayer as the ambulance and fire truck went by. We went back by about a half hour later and it was all gone. Two police cars were just leaving, and the really bad smashed car was gone. You couldn't even tell there had been an accident. From the looks of the car as we went by the first time, if there was anyone in it, they must have been killed or very badly injured.

We ate in Taylor and headed home at sunset.

I've been on the computer catching up since we got home. Oh, and I have to go put clothes in the dryer before I go to bed.
Guess I'd better do that now.

I think I'll stay home tomorrow and get some things done since I still have 5 meetings and classes this week, and I still don't know how retirement is going to affect unemployment. I'm waiting for a call back from UI about that. Since I only need 5, I'm going to skip the two extra ones on Monday this week.

Off to the dryer and then bed.

the only explanation....

The only explanation I have for not posting last night is that I was really tired and completely forgot by the time I was finally ready to go to bed.
I can't even remember what I did yesterday, which actually now is the day before....

OH, I checked my calendar. Now I remember. I was in a record keeping class all day yesterday. I don't EVER want to have to do payroll. If we have to hire people, they will either be contract, or one of them will be someone to do payroll!

So, when I got home, I had work to do. I think I went to bed at around 1:00. Had a meeting early on Friday, but then home to prep for a meeting Saturday (today now) with a bride and her mom, to discuss the wedding in July.

I'm sleeping in in the morning, then eating my breakfast on the patio instead of gulping it down just before running out the door for a meeting, like most days.

It was going to be my only day off this month, but had to schedule the meeting. Then we are going to go out taking photos to use for backgrounds. That will be fun!

another day of fun stuff!

I had a meeting at 8:30, then lunch with some friends, then took my camera to the shop. It turned out to be the lens that needs repair, so they sent it off. Luckily, we have other cameras and lenses to shoot the wedding in July. That one may not be back in time.

I have a class all day tomorrow, so I'm off to Nappy's house soon.

What a day! Started with my first meeting at 9:00 am (got up at 7:30), got home from my last meeting at about 10:30 pm.

It was a good day, but very long.

A meeting at 8:30 in the morning, and a class from 11:00-1:00. Then I'm coming home to do a bunch of stuff here that I haven't seemed to have time to get to.

amazing day!

We had an amazing, inspiring day!

Church this morning, great discussion on the way there and after.
Then went to the Photo Expo at Norris Conf Center.
Only had time for two of the seminars, but they were both great! Lots of info/notes.

Then on to Walburg for the 50+ Club dinner.

Found a great place for photos on the way home. May go back there on Sunday to shoot backgrounds.

Must get to bed now. Busy day coming up. First meeting at 8:30 a.m.
Last meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Ready for the workshop!

Had a nice meeting in Round Rock, then came home and stayed since the weather was yucky.
We were planning to go to San Marcos for the graduation of two of my nieces, but didn't want to drive in the storm. Didn't make sense to chance an accident for the 20 seconds each of them would be walking across the stage.

I just finished putting together all the packets for the single mom's workshop in Taylor at 10 a.m.

After the workshop, we're headed for a wedding in Round Rock.

I'll be working on the 50+ scrapbook when I get home, so I can take it to the dinner on Sunday evening.

more meetings

I went to the Christian Business Network meeting at lunchtime today. Met some new people.
I like that group.

Then in the evening, I went to Round Rock to meet up with some female photographer friends for a neat tour. Afterward we chatted in the parking lot for a while. Planning a "studio tour" so we can see how each other work. Don't know when it will happen. Just an idea we came up with so far.

I should go to bed since I have an 8:30 meeting and then off to San Marcos for two of my nieces' graduations.

Two good meetings today

Went to two good meetings today, then did a LOT of work when I got home this afternoon.
I did watch Dancing while I was working. I keep it in the corner of my computer screen, so I can still work. Multi-tasking.... have to these days. So much to do!
Meeting in the morning, then home to prep for parenting class in the evening.
Still room for more students if you know of someone who is interested.

Mom's 93rd Birthday party!

Took most of the day off.
Mom turned 93 on the 7th. We had a big family party for her today at the neighborhood clubhouse close to their home. She danced three whole songs before she got tired and sat down to open her gifts. I think her favorite was a sparkly gold scarf, or was it the giant coffee mug full of special coffees and chocolates, or was it all the pretty flowers and plants..... she loved them all, as well as having family around her. She actually had 93 candles on her white and chocolate cake (her request) and vanilla and chocolate ice cream (also her request). Hey, when you're 93 you pretty much get what you ask for, except the million dollars. None of us could fill that request... not even all of us together! Even so, she seemed to really enjoy her special day.

Now, I have more work to do before I sleep!

workshop went well

The anger workshop today at Mesa Ranch went well. We may have a student or two in the class starting Tuesday from it. There is still space for a couple more tho, in case you have been procrastinating!

After I did Mom's nails, we went back there for dinner. It was good.

I can't focus any more tonight and tomorrow is a big day with church and then Mom's 93rd b-day party. Her birthday was the 7th.

So.... I'm going to give it up and go to bed now.

the weekend?

Gonna be a busy one. Had a busy Friday that started with a meeting at 8:30, then some errands, then home to work for a few hours, then off to a stamp group luau for a little fun.

yet another busy day!

This morning was rather strange. I had set the alarm for 7:00, but didn't actually turn it on!
So, I woke up at 7:59. I was supposed to leave the house by 8:10. I did! Traffic was bad on Mopac, so I was 6 minutes late, but other people got there after me, so it wasn't a big deal. The meeting didn't really start right away.

I only had the one meeting today, but did have to run some errands after that. I was on a quest for a monthy/weekly planner with whole columns for each day of the week, divided by half hours. It's been too crazy to fit everything each day in the little squares in my monthly pages calendar. I went to 3 office supply stores and 3 Walmart's before I found one like I wanted. Good thing is it is for all of 2011 too, but it doesn't start until July, so I had to scan some weekly pages for the rest of May and all of July. I got it all put together and actually have all of my meetings and appointments in there. I feel so much more organized now!
If I could just get the rest of my life organized.....

For now, I'm going to bed tho, since it's 2:30 am. Good thing I don't have any meetings Thursday morning!
Our YourLocalCity group is going to the RR Express game in the evening, so except for some work at home on the computer, I'm sleeping in and taking the day off.... doing my nails even!

productive day

But not as much as I wanted it to be.

Went to two meetings this morning. Met some interesting people.
Got a copy of my dba at the tax office, went to the bank, then HEB.
Worked on the newsletter. Ready to send out when I wake up, before I head out to my morning meeting.
Got some things ready for the anger workshop on Saturday. Several more people have signed up. Maybe some more when the newsletter goes out. :)

Things are starting to roll! Now, to get a few more students in the May 11th class....

fun for one day....

I didn't get everything on my "to do" list for today done, but I can't stay awake, so guess I'll get to it later.

Have to get up early for two meetings and then run three errands. Hope to be home by about 3:00 to get back to my "to do" list.

didn't seem to be very productive today....

Went to church, then Lowe's where I promptly closed the back of the SUV on the edge of the canvas we keep in there for hauling gardening stuff, so now the latch won't open. Hope it's not too much fuss and expense to get it fixed. E's taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
So, I'll be driving Petey.

I did manage to finish my very first Constant Contact newsletter and send a test to a couple people, so I can get it sent out tomorrow. Hopefully it will generate some interest in the workshop scheduled for the 8th, and the class we have starting on the 11th. I've been posting on Facebook and Craigslist too. Say a prayer!

At least I didn't set anything on fire today.

I guess I'll go to bed now since I can't focus very well anymore.

planning a wedding

Well, we aren't, but we are going to photograph one in July, so today when we took a wrong turn on the way to the car show in Georgetown, we went by the wedding venue and checked it out. Took some photos to test angles and lighting.

I've been so busy all evening working on the new newsletter format that I lost track of time.... again.

I'm not finished with the newsletter, but I'm going to bed now. Don't want to be falling asleep in church!

FIRE!

I was up until about 1, got up at 6:10, had 4 meetings today, ran an errand, cooked dinner and started a fire in the oven, .... yes, I'm tired!
E was calm and put it out before the alarm went off and called the FD.
Then after dinner, we watched a movie.
It's almost midnight, so I'm going to bed soon.

We finished up the 5th parenting class of this series. We start a Tuesday class on May 11th.
I have 4 meetings tomorrow. Would be 5 if I could figure out how to be in two places at once!
Going to Georgetown on Saturday to take photos at the car show. It's free to go see the cars.

Went to a training class this morning, then to a lunch networking meeting, then ran some errands, did some work on the computer, took a 30 minute nap, then went to a girl's night out thing with some friends. HEB for milk on the way home. More work on the computer, and now I'm ready to hit the pillow!

Tuesday? Already?

How did it get to be Tuesday already. I don't remember Monday!
Oh, checked my calendar. I had two job club meetings, and a one-on-one meeting.
Today I had a breakfast meeting, then a 3 hour meeting this afternoon.
Then a phone hearing with Workforce. Gee, that was fun!
Don't know the outcome yet. They will be "mailing me the decision"....
YourLocalCity Ambassador Training in the morning, then lunch & learn about using social media to drive traffic to our websites.
Another meeting in the evening, and somewhere in there I have to prep for the Thursday evening RCB class.
Four meetings scheduled on Friday.
Out to photo an event on Saturday.
Think I'll collapse on Sunday after church!
Guess I should go to bed soon so I can get through tomorrow!

I'm baaack!

I realized as my head hit the pillow the last couple of night/mornings that I didn't blog.
I've been swamped. I can't even remember everything I've done the last couple of days. I know I had a very busy week, and Saturday took pics at a wedding shower. I have been updating my add & phone lists so I can finally get numbers in my phone. I had so many duplicates from merging my email and phone that it kept choking. Should load ok now.
I'm going to bed and let E do that fun stuff for me.

I had a great meeting this morning! (OK, I realize it's morning now, but you know what I mean - Wednesday.)

Then I had a really nice time at lunch with my sister at her annual retirement luncheon.
Yummy bread! Oh, and my chicken was heart shaped. Yes, I took a photo. The cupcakes for dessert were really yummy too! Dagar's catered the lunch. We even got to meet her. Third generation family business. Very successful. That's good to hear these days!!!

On to a meeting with a new friend that turned into a three hour meeting, eating Amy's Belgian Chocolate ice cream and sitting out by the fountain at the Arboretum. We have so much in common! I can see us being friends for a long time.

I was supposed to go to a meeting tonight with some women photographer friends, but couldn't find the place to meet. I think it must have closed. So, I came home to work on the flier for the anger workshop and some other things. Must catch up someday!!! Maybe.

For now, my pillow is calling me!

only two meetings and a class....

Today wasn't as long as it was supposed to be originally.
We had two meetings and a class this morning, starting at 8:00, finishing a little after 1:00.
We were supposed to have a 5 hour class this evening, but decided not to spend the $100 for it, since income is so sporadic at the moment.

Well, it's early in the morning!

I wanted to go to bed at 10:00, but that's the first I could get on my computer. Hard drive had to be replaced today, so E was doing a backup when I got home. Took a long time!
Then I got busy doing other things and discovered it was finished at 10. I had to get a few messages out, so here I am being a night owl again.

fun Sunday!

After church, we got a few things at Sam's (chocolate cake) and headed for the 50+ Club picnic.
After the picnic, we went back to the church to take rose garden photos, then on to Dell Diamond to scope out the bluebonnets for a photo session this week.

E took a long nap when we got home because he hurt his back somehow yesterday and could hardly move this morning. I had to help him get dressed for church, and then I drove everywhere because he took meds for it. I think he napped from about 5:30-9:30. I should have!!!
It was a long day, and I'm still up!
Should go to bed soon.... as soon as I put laundry in the dryer.... since I have a full day tomorrow.... uh, today.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I had 10 meetings and met with 4 individuals between Monday morning and Wednesday evening. No wonder I was so tired! I realized it when I started filling out my work log for the week.

Today, being Saturday, we saw some friends and went to a party this evening.
Then finished up a few scrapbook pages for a party tomorrow.

a lazy day?

Not really, but I didn't ever get out of my jammies.

Been at the computer most of the day. I think I've finally got my contacts all in order. From loading things from my old email at work, and from my old phone that I dropped, everything was all jumbled up. There were names without any info and info that didn't match up to anyone. Good thing E knows so much about computer stuff and could fix it for me. I just had to spend a lot of time getting rid of the duplicates and adding some folks. Now he is going to merge the two lists and put them in my address book, and on my phone. I'll actually be able to call people again! I mean besides people who have called me. Those were the only numbers in my phone for weeks now.

I've really had a very productive day, so I'm going to bed now.

I completely missed posting on Wednesday, and now Thursday, since it's Friday morning now.

With 4 meetings on Wednesday, then going to bed at 3:35 Thursday morning.... I didn't get much done besides prepping for the parenting class on Thursday. Since it's already Friday morning, and I have an early meeting, guess I'd better get to bed.

Hopefully Friday afternoon I'll get caught up on a few things.

Three meetings today, and Tuesday half price burgers dinner at Sonic. :)

Made some good contacts today. Need to do some work to set some things up.
Still have some follow-up to do from the last few days. I want to be cloned!
I at least need a twin to do some of this stuff for me!
Four meetings tomorrow, but should be home by 4:30 or 5:00.

I have a couple of things to finish up tonight and then hit the pillow, so I can get an early start tomorrow. I have a feeling I'll be in rush hour traffic. Haven't done that much lately, and I'm not looking forward to it!

Wish I could remember the exact reason I'm supposed to talk to someone in particular tomorrow. Hopefully the woman I spoke with this morning will remind me....

Tomorrow night is class prep night for Thursday. No meetings on Thursday so I'll be working on some of the stuff that is piling up.

looooooong day.....

I was up at 7:15, left home at 8:25, several meetings and errands all day, then home at 10:00.
I'm pretty wiped out. Going to bed soon. Will have to catch up tomorrow night. I have two meetings in the morning, and one in the afternoon, but should be home by 5.

I found one of the books Kieve told me about today. Still looking for the other one, and the one Linda showed me. May have to order online.

Added several things to my "to do" list today. The list that gets two things added for every one I scratch off. I should quit scratching them off!!! Ha!

Bride in the bluebonnets!

We went out past Burnet a ways and came back on Park Road 4. Beautiful patches of bluebonnets and rocks. I'm amazed I can still fit in my wedding dress after almost 6 years. E had the idea this morning when I was already dressed for church that we should do that. Should have seen me changing into my dress on the side of the road, and praying I could still fit in it! It was definitely interesting. Thankfully there was a nice woman from Houston area, Wisconsin before that, who zipped me up. E is going through the pics now. Likely to see some on our website soon.

no bluebonnets today :(

We had originally planned to go out to the Willow City Loop today to photograph bluebonnets, but got a late start to our day from being up so late last night.
Then started a list of all the things we need to get done in the next couple of days, so we started chipping away at it.

We finally started on taxes. I've had the papers piled up for weeks. Hope to finish them before the weekend is over, since E has to go for Jury selection on Monday and wants to have them done in case he gets tied up in one for a few days.

I had a very productive day working on parenting class files and handouts. I've got them all neatly organized better than they were before. I know just what I need to make copies of before the next class scheduled to start on April 27th.

I have a very full "to do" list all prioritized too. Much easier to get it done when it's all on paper instead of just jumbled up in my head.

I also found another job in Round Rock to apply for on Monday in between my job clubs.

Now, it's time to go to bed so I can get up for church. Should be interesting. First Sunday after our priest of 4 years left.

Where did the day go?

Here it is tomorrow again....

My computer crashed last night right in the middle of some things I was working on. Really slowed me down. E fixed it, but not in time for me to do anything more last night. It was still "fixing" when I went to bed - late, or was it early....around 1:00, I think.

Got my errands done today. Met with one of the daycares about having parenting classes there. Will find out how they want to handle it in the next few days.

Applied for another job, just in case. Don't think I'll get it, but who knows.... and do I really want to?

Tomorrow will be another busy one. One lunch meeting, then home to finish prepping for class tomorrow night.

Yesterday got away from me....flat tire...

I meant to post last night... but at 1:05 when I hit the pillow, I didn't have the energy to get up again and do it.

Yesterday started out with a flat tire on E's car, so I had to drop him at church in Round Rock before heading to Cedar Park for job club at 9:00 (got there with 5 minutes to spare), then focus group. Lunch with friends from my old job for my belated birthday, another job club group at 1:30, then my granddaughter's kickball game at 5:15.
Lots of catching up to do on the computer when I got home, so I never got to the blog.

Today was pretty crazy too. Breakfast networking at 8:30, then straight to job club, then to meeting at 1:30. Got home about 2:45 and went to the PISD to drop off a couple of things for their silent auction.

By then, it was 5:00 so we went to Sonic for half price burgers (every Tuesday) and my free birthday cream slush. Yum! Got lime, so it was kinda like key lime pie. Been working on the computer pretty much since then.

I found a job in Round Rock I'm going to apply for. Might be just right and still leave me time to teach classes and schedule photo sessions. Can't hurt to apply anyway, and I might make another good contact or two for our businesses, even if I don't get the job.
I figure God put it in front of me for a reason. Better listen to Him!

Couple more things to do before bed. At least I don't have any early meetings tomorrow. Just three things on my list of errands and meetings.

HE is Risen!

Happy Easter!

What a wonderful day! Got to church early. Service was nice even tho it's Reverend Mary's last Sunday with us. It was overcast most of the day, and drizzly off and on. The sun broke through in the middle of the service and lit up the huge stained glass window behind the altar. So appropriate.

Had brisket for lunch purchased from the BOSA group. Pretty yummy, and there is enough for tomorrow, unless E stays up all night and gets hungry!

Busy day tomorrow and I haven't done my homework for class in the morning yet, so better get to it.

We took off early this morning on a quest for the perfect field of bluebonnets today. Didn't find it, but did find SOME. Spent about 12 hours driving around taking pics. I'm too tired to even load them on the computer to look at them. Tomorrow after church....

Was it only today that I did all this?

E went with me to job club this morning, well Friday morning. I see that once again it's already tomorrow....
After job club, we ran a few errands then came home for a bit. Ran a couple more errands.
I did take a nap for about 40 minutes before I went to stamp group.
We had gone to the frame shop to pick up an order. While we were waiting for them to bring it out, I said I really needed a nap. He said I should talk to my boss about that. I said I did and she told me to take one. :)

Stamp group was really fun tonight. We made some neat projects. I now have a really pretty card to give to Mom for her birthday/Mother's day coming up soon! I'm happy to have that taken care of.

I get to spend several hours with Mom next Friday so my sister can fly up to see my nephew in his final performance as he retires from the Louisville Ballet. He's off to pursue other things, still related tho. That profession really takes a toll on your body.

Well, better hit the pillow so I can get up early. We plan to go on a quest for some beautiful bluebonnets to photograph. I'll let you know when some are posted on our website.

Is there life after UT?

You bet there is!
I'm officially retired since my birthday was March 31. I took early retirement.
Now I work for me!
We had the first of class of the 5 week parenting class tonight.
It was great! The next four classes should be great too!
I'm so enjoying helping families.

Some other things should fall into place soon. Keep me off the street corners, and out from under bridges. I certainly like that!

Well, bed soon so I can get up for job club, and go to stamp group Friday night.
Maybe a nap in betweek.

Interesting day again

Our focus group in between my two job clubs today was really interesting. We did some fun and enlightening exercises.

I've been busy emailing and calling this evening to get a couple more people in the parenting class we have starting on Thursday. There is still space for a couple more if you are interested, or know someone who might be.

I'm about to go to bed. Long day, and I have a breakfast meeting tomorrow, then job club, then lunch with a friend, then maybe the chiro if I can get in, then down to Mom's to sit with her and do her nails while Tammy teaches a class.

When I get home, I have to get ready for an afternoon meeting on Wednesday with one of the daycares I took fliers to last week.

Busy, busy, busy! One of these days, it WILL pay off!

Completely missed a day....

Yesterday was a blur with getting ready for the Easter Pfest.... actually going to it... then preparing for our workshop in the evening.... and giving it.... I was exhausted by the time I got home, but still had some things to do. By the time I went to bed about 1:45 this morning, I had completely forgotten to blog. I did think about it as I drifted off to sleep.
Didn't have time before church this morning.

Friday was a crazy day!

I started out EARLY for a 7:30 coffee meeting with the Chamber of Commerce.
That was a great adventure. The last time I went to one of their meetings, it was really small. There were a LOT of people there. We will probably end up joining as soon as we have a little cashflow to do it. We could be taking photos of the City Council. We spoke with the Mayer Pro Tem and he wants a new photo for the web page. He is going to suggest it to the others since some of them just have snapshots. He would like for the page to look more professional. I'll be getting back to him next week about all that.

I was planning to go to two other networking meetings, but was already late for the 2nd one so decided to do a couple of other things to get ready for later. Went to the third one and it had been moved to Tuesday morning. I got my messages mixed up or missed one. Not sure how that actually happened. Anyway, we will probably go to the Tuesday one.

The rest of the day I got busy stuffing plastic eggs with a business card that has the two workshops on it, a parenting tip, and chocolate! We are going to the Easter Pfest today from noon to 2:00 to pass out eggs to the adults. This afternoon at 5:30, we are giving a parenting skills workshop at the Rec Center. This one is free, but we hope to get the word out to some folks that we are around, and maybe enroll a couple of people in our class that begins on April 1st. Interesting day!

I went out today to take fliers to several daycares in the area.
Got a particularly warm response at a couple of them.
The last one I went to called just after I got home (about 15 minutes after I stopped by) to talk about setting up a class at their location. Gotta love that! Details to work out yet. I'll be going by to chat with her some more about it tomorrow afternoon - I mean today.

I'm going to some different job club/networking events Friday this week. There are three I want to check out, so I have to miss LPJC to do that.

Well, the three hours I slept last night plus the hour nap today is not enough sleep for me, and I have to get up at 6:00 to get to my early networking event, so off to bed!

Up all night....

I was up all night working on some fliers and stuff I need for a parenting workshop we have on Saturday, a parenting class we have starting on April 1st (we need a couple more couples in it), and an anger management workshop we have on April 10th.

When I finally crawled into bed at 6:05 this morning, I remembered I hadn't blogged.... just as my head hit the pillow. Wasn't about to come back in here to do it! Sorry folks.

I'm up now to go take fliers around to some daycares and churches. A nap is in order later before a networking meeting tonight.

Two job clubs today....

The first one was really interesting. We had a speaker, but then started a 4 week class the second hour. E went with me. It's going to be interesting. We have homework!

I've been putting workshops and classes on Craigslist this evening, per suggestion of someone in one of the job clubs today, and a couple of times before. I just hadn't done it until today. Winter and Spring got mixed up!

Yesterday was really nice. Today was COLD and windy!
The highest I saw was 43. It's 39 now.

Another busy day and late night. Seems so long ago that I went to Job Club (Friday morning).

I've been busy since I got home. Working on parenting class stuff and getting the house ready for the party Sunday evening.

E is off at the church men's retreat. He needed to get out of the house and do something different. Hope he is enjoying it. I love to go to the church retreats there. It's so peaceful out in the country.

My phone has been plugged into the computer all day. Says it's STILL syncing. I think it's hung up somehow. It's not saying it's adding contacts anymore. Those little arrows have been chasing each other around in a circle all day! Surely it's done by now!

Well, I'm going to bed. I think if it's still spinning when I get up, I'm going to unplug it anyway.... unless E replies to the email I sent and tells me not to....

Lost track of time again!!!

I've got to quit staying up so late.
I did get a lot done today tho. Much still waiting to be done when I get home from Job Club.
Busy weekend for me at home while E goes to the men's retreat. He needs some time away from the computer... Oh, wait, he's taking his laptop with him to show a movie....
And, I need some "me" time alone. Of course, I have so much to do that it won't be my normal "me" time alone. Oh, well, it will be quiet, except for the roar of the vacuum cleaner.

We had the meeting at the Rec Center. Not exactly what we wanted, but it will certainly help get the word out. We are going to do one free workshop on the 27th, then a paid one on April 10th. what day is it?

I've been confused all day. Different times of the day I thought it was different days of the week. No, I didn't take a nap and think it was a different day.

Went to a job club this morning (in the rain), then rushed home to get E to go to a marketing meeting. Very interesting. Learned some new things. Now, to put them into practice!

Tomorrow I have a meeting about setting up some parenting classes. Pray it goes well!

About to load some pics from the 3 hour walk Sunday onto my computer to see how they turned out.

taxes.....

We have got to come up with a better system this year! I'm about to scream!
I've been after E to get to this for at least 3 or 4 weeks. He decides to do them the busiest week with only a couple days to do them. This is not working for me!

I have to get up and go to two meetings tomorrow and he wants to work on them NOW!
Nope. I'm going to bed. Hope I'm not too wound up to sleep!

Today was good tho. I met another neat woman this morning. Could be a good contact for photography business. Photographing horses. I love horses. I think they are amazing animals. I like to ride them, but they like to run away with me. They know I don't know what I'm doing and really take me for a ride. Maybe somewhere in this I'll learn a bit about riding too.

This afternoon was another good meeting. Some very interesting stuff. I've done that kind of thing before, but it was interesting to write a bunch of stuff down that I was thinking back on Nov. 30th and in the days that followed. It's also good to be past a lot of that! I'm in a pretty good place now in a lot of ways. Some not so good, but working through those.

Beautiful day for a walk in the park....

As soon as we got home from church, we headed out for what I thought was going to be about a 30 minute walk. We headed over by the elementary school, then across the road to the trail that goes through the park. Three hours, yes 3, later we got back home. We stopped along the way a lot to take photos.

It was not a very productive day, unless we can sell some of those photos. We needed the exercise tho. I miss the trail at the old job. I haven't been walking every day like I used to. Must get back in that habit, before I have to buy a new wardrobe!

It's going to be a busy week with meetings, and getting ready for a party next Sunday afternoon with friends from church. Our 50+ Club group wine and cheese/potluck at our house. We got on the schedule for this way back before the layoff, or we might not be doing it this month. Guess it really doesn't matter, except that the layoff postponed my doing a lot of things around the house that I planned to do during the Christmas break. And, I've been so busy with networking to build our businesses or find a job that I haven't gotten those things done yet. Yesterday was the most productive day of housecleaning in a long time. I will be ready, but busy week ahead. E is going to the men's retreat Friday afternoon for the weekend, so I'll have some uninterrupted time to clean on Friday and Saturday. He'll be back in time to help a bit before the party on Sunday afternoon.

I have to get up early in the morning for a mandatory meeting for unemployment, so guess I'd better hit the pillow!

A nice surprise!!!

Daughter called today, just after noon to ask if we were free for dinner this evening!
Of course!!! She and grandson, and two of their friends came to town just for dinner with us! They were 2/3 of the way here from Houston, so came to see us. Wish they could have stayed a bit longer, but it was already dark after dinner when they headed back to Houston.
They should be home by now.
I took 61 pictures at dinner! Naturally!

Busy day of organizing our home office and straightening up some other stuff. I can find some things now! Yay!
Finally, must do taxes tomorrow after church, first thing!
Then a bit more cleaning.
Would like to go to Zilker to the kite festival, but don't see it happening.....

Off to bed as soon as the rest of the dinner photos load so I can send them.

I can't believe I'm still awake!

I thought I wouldn't stay up too late after I got home from church..... but here it is tomorrow already, and I'm still awake!
It's been a busy evening.

I've decided to go to a "new" (to me) job club/networking group at lunchtime. Might meet some new people who want photos or parenting classes, or have some suggestions. You just never know. Anyway, I had to find something to do for missing the Tuesday meeting. There were only two listings for tomorrow that I wanted to check out. The other one is the far side of town, so I'm going closer first.

Maybe I'll find another new one to go to next week. Broaden my horizons, and my contacts.

Missed last night... with good reason

Yesterday was a very strange day. I don't know where it went!
I didn't go to the job fair yesterday morning after all. When I looked at it, it appeared to be mostly for forklift operators. I don't think so! Way too noisy for me! Not to mention, I don't have a clue how to operate one. :)

I went to Mom's in the afternoon - it took me over an hour.... I don't like traffic at 4:00 - and got home way late last night. We went to Sonic for half price burgers, then at home (hers) I did her nails, and we watched a movie. I left there about 10:15. By the time I got home, I was too tired to even log on.

Today I have to fill out some insurance papers, and some other stuff to send to different places. Soup supper tonight at church.

For now, a bit of catching up.

Went to two job club meetings today, finally put the rest of the Christmas stuff that was piled in the garage away in the attic, paid a few bills. Now ready to hit the pillow.
Another job club meeting in the morning. A new one I haven't been to before. Hope to meet some new people and make some good contacts.

Another old friend....

Saw another old friend today, two actually, that I hadn't seen in a long time.
Surprised to see one of them in a uniform. We had a nice long chat. Very encouraging.
Then, as if an answer to a prayer we had just been talking about, another opportunity for a place to teach parenting classes. Sounds like it might be a really great opportunity. Planning to meet to discuss it next week.

Another late night....

Job Club this morning. Saw some friends there.

Had a great time tonight at stamp group. Made some cool cards and scrapbook pages. Lots of fun and laughter. Wish I had more time for that than one night each month! Maybe after we get the businesses growing, my schedule will even out a little and I can add another event like that. Good to have fun!

Got the evite sent for the 50+ Wine and Cheese party this month.

Started getting things ready to send out to promote more parenting classes.
A somewhat productive day. More tomorrow.

Really a night owl....

Yes, I really am a night owl!
I went to a RISE event this evening and am still on the computer since I got home. I'm not even tired, but should go to bed so I can go to LPJC in the morning!
I only took a 30 minute nap this afternoon. Love those naps! Used to take one almost every day on my lunch hour. That must be why I still need them now.

Had a great lunch today at the Doubletree. Yummy triple chocolate cheesecake! Met some really nice people. The Blood Center Award Luncheon. I coordinated the blood drives at work for several years. Passed it on to a dear friend who is still working there. She'll do a great job of coordinating them. I may still have to go there to donate, unless we start doing more than 2 a year at church. If they are scheduled at the right intervals, I can do two at each place. Either way, benefits a lot of people. Saves lives. If you don't donate already, please check into it. It's easy and not painful. Only takes a short time. If you or someone you know has ever needed blood, you know how important it is!

OK, off to Nappy's house so I can get up soon!

Interesting website class today....

I had originally planned to get out and pass out fliers today, but apparently wasn't supposed to do it just yet. As it turned out, on the way home from the website class we went to, E and I were talking about dropping off fliers and came up with another idea. If I had dropped some off earlier, I might have missed the opportunity we talked about. Everything happens for a reason. All part of God's plan. Wish He'd share a bit more of it with me. I know..... in HIS time!

The website class was very interesting. I picked up a few things, and E got some ideas for improving ours.

Soup supper was great! Had a nice chat with a couple of friends. Was glad to be there for someone. The meditation program before the service was great! Same one we did at the ECW retreat recently. Really a blessing. Was nice to see Suzanne again.

Couple of things to do before I hit the pillow, so better get busy!

A little late....

Busy day.... ran a few errands this morning. Made the first deposit of my unemployment benefits. Will figure out what to pay tomorrow. Too tired to focus on that tonight.

Got the bread for the Wednesday evening Lenten soup supper.

I'm ready to go to a website class/meeting Wednesday afternoon. Yep, that's today. Glad it's not in the morning! I wish I had noticed one of the RISE sessions sooner. I would have gone. It's at 8 am downtown. Not something I'm inspired to do at this point. I would have to leave WAY early to beat the rush hour traffic! The longer I'm not working, the less I want to tackle that traffic.

Got a new flier ready to take around the rest of the week to promote parenting classes.
Need to work on a "phone script" or two for different folks to call. That's a project for the afternoon, after the website thing.

Well, off to Nappy's house. It's been a long one.

Well, I did it....

I went to TRS today to turn in my retirement papers.
I'm hoping and praying that it's the right thing to do at this point. It seems to be. Everything seems to be leading us to teaching more parenting classes. It would be nice to fill the one we have scheduled this month! That would be encouraging, ....and help pay the bills.

I met another person today who can, and will hopefully, help promote the classes to a couple of groups she belongs to.

I plan to either send a bunch of initial emails tomorrow, or go hand out some fliers and meet some people at different childcare places in the area.
It's an adventure to get people to see that parenting is the most challenging and most rewarding JOB they will ever have and yet they don't feel the need for training to make their life easier. It amazes me that people will pay tons of money for classes in everything else.

I hate MATH!!!

OK, not really, but I'm sure not happy with it at the moment.

I had to pre-test the other day for the multi-media class I want to take.
I didn't do well on the math section, so I've been studying for when I have to take the REAL test. I did really well on the main part of the test, and even on the computer section with terms and such. Math has just never been one of my good subjects.
I haven't had to use fractions and algebra for decades. Why do I need to test for it now? That's what computers and calculators are for!!!

This morning was great tho. The Bishop came for Baptisms and Confirmations. There were a bunch of them! 30 or so. It was a long service, but what a glorious day! God must have been very happy because He gave us wonderful weather today!

I should have walked when I got home from church, but had to get busy studying math. :(

Where did the day go?

I had a long list of things to do today.....

Started out with a benefit breakfast at 8:00 for the Hutto Choir going to Disney soon.
Planned to get busy when I got home, but instead, took a nap.... the day went downhill from there. I did a few things on my list, but not very many!

Maybe tomorrow after church I'll get motivated. Think I'll go to bed soon, so I can get back on a regular schedule. I've been staying up way too late these days, then I don't want to get up!

Computer gremlins last night.....

Didn't get to post. Every time I tried to do something, I got the "not responding" message. Finally gave up and went to bed at 12:15 this morning. Had to get some rest from a busy day for another busy day today.

Yesterday was testing for a class I want to take, then a retirement party, then some retirement paperwork for myself, then rushed home to get E and head out to a presentation about our businesses to the Entrepreneur Network meeting in Round Rock.
Went pretty well, I think. We got a lot of good feedback and contact suggestions.

Today started out with getting gas, and making a business contact there, then went to the bank for retirement paperwork from them for deposits, then voted, then job club, then Sprint for a car charger since my phone battery wimped out, then HR to turn in retirement paperwork, then main building payroll to drop off ONE page for them to fill out for TRS, then home to get E to go to a fish fry in Georgetown. I'm even more tired from typing it all!!!

Lots o' soup!

Tonight was the first Lenten soup supper. Ate too much! Only had one bowl, but ate bread, then drank water and it all puffed up!

Today has been a busy day getting ready to show the slideshow of church photos at the soup supper, and to present our businesses to the Entrepreneur Network meeting tomorrow night.

Seems like I did a bunch of other stuff today, but can't recall what.
I did clean off my desk some so I could find things. A little more organized now.
Must go to bed earlier than last night (actually 3:00 this morning).... tests tomorrow. I have no idea what kind of tests. Can't study for them.

Snow Day!

Hope everyone had a great day!

I might have been even more excited about it if I were working and had the day off because of it.
I did get out and take some neat snow photos tho. It was nice to be able to do that when I wanted to.
Took pics of the snow at church, then some kids having a snowball fight.
Got some interesting shots of snowpeople on the field at the stadium.
Then some at the old Lutheran church and cemetery.

Was a really long afternoon of photos and then half price burgers at Sonic where we watched the big snowflakes falling as we ate.

Wonderful weekend!

I had an amazing weekend at the church retreat!
Made a great new friend and got to know some others better.
The weather was overcast until this morning, but sunny and gorgeous today! We went to the Narrows yesterday and today. I got some great pics.... well, I haven't loaded them on the computer yet, but they have to be great since it was so beautiful out there with the waterfalls! The other times I've been there, not much water. I love just sitting watching and listening to the waterfall. The power of God right in front of our eyes!
The retreat center is a wonderful, peaceful, spiritual place! I love spending time there! Looking forward to the next retreat already!

Busy week ahead, better get some rest.

Starting early today....

It's been a strange day.... practically the only thing on the news is the guy angry at the IRS who flew his plane into a building where they had some offices. I can't quite figure out the part about setting his house on fire with his wife and 12 year old daughter inside. He definitely snapped! Maybe he figured they wouldn't have any place to live anyway because IRS was taking everything, and he didn't want them to have to live with his death, so he figured he'd do them in too! Scary stuff!
Hope the people who got burned and injured recover.

I'm sure there are some people who think it's good that he did that to the IRS, but if you think about it, he really did it to all of us. They won't change anything, and insurance will go up because they have to cover the cost of the building, so WE are the ones who will get the trickle down from this event.
It's really sad that people get so angry and hopeless that they have to do things like that. You just never know what each day will bring.

Tell the people you care about that you love them.

Uh-oh...did it again....

Got busy and the day slipped away from me.

I've been glued to the computer pretty much all day working on photos and catching up on stuff.

Meant to go to Ash Wednesday service, but when I realized what time it was, it was starting and I was still in my jammies. Yep, worked all day in jammies again. Better than getting out in the cold! But, sorry I missed the service. :(

I saw a neat thing about Lent on a friend's blog today, and asked if I could repost it here, but haven't heard back yet, so maybe tomorrow.... uh, I mean later today.

Should hit the pillow soon! Much to do to get ready for the retreat this weekend!

Forgot what day it was....

I had such a strange busy day that I forgot what day it was several times.
I slept in a bit after staying up late last night. Went to a web marketing/networking lunch meeting that was very interesting. Picked up a few tips, and met a couple of interesting people.
Did some work on the computer. Took a short nap.
Then headed to church for the pancake supper. On the way there, I remembered it was Tuesday. Was wondering why there was traffic at that time. I kept thinking it was Saturday this afternoon. When you work for yourself, it's difficult to remember what day it is sometimes. Tomorrow is kind of like Saturday.... I could go to an email marketing meeting in the afternoon. I just found out about it from someone I met at today's lunch meeting. I could just stay home and do some work here, and get ready for the women's church retreat this weekend. I'm SO looking forward to that. It's always a wonderful weekend.

How did it get to be after midnight so fast!?!
Let's see.... Two job clubs today.... got some groceries... a couple of phone calls.... a flood from E overflowing the Jacuzzi - while I was watching Bachelor! and reading email, catching up on job searches, etc.....got the recycling and trash out for in the morning... so I can sleep in a bit before a meeting....and emailing some contacts networking about parenting classes.... and a friend who is also recently unemployed. The time just zooms by! Another busy day....

Better hit the pillow so I don't oversleep and miss the meeting.

What a wonderful Sunday!

It was a beautiful day, tho a bit chilly this morning. By the time we got out of church, with the sun shining, it had warmed up quite a bit. We ran an errand and did some things at home before going to a great Valentine/Mardi Gras party with our 50+ Club from church. What a fun group of people!

The weather had changed tho. On the way to the party it was VERY windy. 'Bout blew me over when we stopped to get gas. The wind died down by the time we headed home. Still chilly.

We are doing some things tonight to get ready for a busy week! Up early in the morning to go to Jobseekers. Better check the calendar to see what else is on for tomorrow, and hit the pillow soon!

Why is it????

Why is it that I've spent all day trying to catch up, and I'm not yet? Seems I mark one thing off my "to do" list and add one or two more. I keep remembering things that need to be done, or the things I already had on my list take longer than expected.

The pile of papers on my desk does seem a teeny bit smaller than it was this morning.
I think it's about time for me to take everything (well, almost) out of this office and put it back in a much more organized fashion. I might get more done then.

Tomorrow is another busy day. Church and a party. Then some things to get ready for a very busy week, leading up to a wonderful retreat! I'm sure looking forward to that!
Now, where did I put that yoga mat....

Finally Friday.....

Not that it makes a lot of difference when working from home, but I do get to sleep in tomorrow and actually have NOTHING on my calendar. A big change from 2 to 4 events every day this week. So far next week isn't quite as hectic, but it is still shaping up, so it could be.

Today was a great day! Went to Job Club this morning. Met a friend there. Ran into a new friend from Monday's job club. Then met two new friends! Three of them used to work for UT!!! Had lunch with one of them. Very inspiring day so far, but that wasn't the end of it!

I went to Curves for the last time for a while. Had to drop that for a while. It's just not in the budget. There were a couple of people there I hadn't seen for a while, so that was a blessing.

Tonight we went to the Lion's club chili supper. Ran into a couple of old friends there. I didn't have to cook AND met a couple of people who may be helpful in promoting our businesses. We have to put together a presentation specifically for Lion's Club and Rotary Club about our parenting classes. Seems every day I meet someone or something happens that leads us farther in the direction of pursuing our dreams. It's a wonderful adventure!

Another busy, hectic day!

Hit the ground running today! Had an interview this morning that turned out to be two - back to back.

Then finally got to return the loaner phone (since the 26th when I dropped mine), since my new one (3rd time's the charm) arrived yesterday. I get to learn how to use it now! Gee, that's one of my favorite things....learning a new phone.....

Grabbed a burger and headed for yet another interviewing class. Interesting stuff, but I actually got a lot more out of the two yesterday.

Made it to Curves this evening, but when I came out, there was slushy ice on my windshield and it was still coming down, so I decided to head home instead of going to Round Rock to the networking group I've been going to. Hated to miss it since the speaker was talking about marketing, but really didn't want to be driving home on ice sometime after 9:00. You never know what this crazy weather is going to do in a couple of hours!

Job Club in the morning, so I'd better hit the pillow soon! Just a couple more things to do tonight.

Very interesting, hectic day!

Originally, I only had two things scheduled today. An interview with the guy at workforce at 9:00 a.m. and a women's photo group I just joined at 6:00 p.m.
The workforce guy gave me a list of classes he wanted me to take, so at 9:45 when I finished my meeting with him, I checked the calendar. One of the classes was from 10:00-12:00. Since I was already there, I decided I may as well go, especially since it was about interviewing, and I had two calls this morning before 9:00 to set up interviews. The class was very interesting and informative. There was a second part to it, that hadn't been highlighted, but I decided I wanted to go to it anyway, from 2:00-4:30 (actually ended about 4:40.) I figured I had just enough time to run down to Precision Camera for some ink for printing photos, and grab some lunch. It was perfect timing, even with the sleet. I got back at 1:50, just in time to catch my breath before class. The second class was just as good as the first one. Glad I went. They should be helpful with my interview tomorrow. I have to check on the second job to see if I still want to interview for that one. As I recall, it doesn't pay what I need to make, but at the time I applied, it was one of the very few posted that was along the lines of what I used to do.

As soon as I got out of class, I headed out to Cedar Park for my photo group meeting. What a fun group of women! I got there just before 6:00, and left just before 10:00. There were still a bunch of women there when I left. I'm looking forward to getting together with them again. They are all different levels of photographers, from beginners to advanced. I'm sure I can learn a few things, and maybe help a few of the new people too.

Well, better check on that other job posting, and prep for tomorrow's interview before I hit the pillow.

Running late!

Busy day! Well, after sleeping in a bit. I worked out at Curves this afternoon and then had an opportunity this evening to see some friends I haven't seen in a long time. It was nice to reconnect, and I learned some things too. Went to a Young Living Essential Oils meeting. People from Utah's headquarters were there. I met a couple of really nice women from south of here. It was a pretty good day, except for the computer gremlins are at it again.
Oh, and I should have my new phone tomorrow. This will be the third one they sent since I dropped mine on about the 26th of January. First one was the wrong phone. Didn't have all the features my old one had. The second one was a nice phone, but they didn't send a charger. Found out today, after it was supposed to be here Friday and then today, that it was on back order. They had no idea when they would get one to me. So, they are sending a completely different phone. I'm hoping it comes while I'm in town in the morning so I can return the loaner I've had for what seems like a really long time. I miss having my phone numbers in my phone, and speed dialing! Not to mention the calendar, notepad, etc. Hopefully all will be well tomorrow! Which is almost today! Better get to Nappy's house since I have to get up early and have a big day tomorrow. Meet with the unemployment guy tomorrow morning and then have a photo club meeting with a bunch of women tomorrow evening. New group I joined. Hope to learn a lot from them, and make some new friends of course!

Encouraging day!

I got up EARLY today. Had a job club meeting at 9:00 on the other side of town.
I spoke with two very encouraging men there about ways to follow our dreams of teaching more parenting classes. Along the lines of what we talked about with the small business counselor last week. Too early to tell how it's going to work out. I still have to talk with two or three more people there to see if we can work out details.

One of the challenges we have been having building our businesses is my not having enough time to devote to them. God has removed that obstacle.... whether the people involved think it was their idea or not.... I feel it was His hand. Every day there seem to be more things happening pointing us in the direction of teaching the classes.

Then I went to another interesting job club meeting this afternoon. Got to catch up a bit with friends from my old job. There it is again.... my old job.
Life goes on!

I can't wait to see what adventure tomorrow brings!

Ahhhhh, Sunday.....

Would be just like any other if not for church and great friends!
Lots of hugs! Great sermon. Great meeting with the ladies after the service. Such a supportive group. Interesting Bible Study topic.... "Cutting back after job loss".... how appropriate! Yummy food. More hugs.

Then home to figure out my email.... Gremlins seem to have gotten in there and rearranged everything, and I can't EVEN find the address book and bookmarks that I emailed to myself the last week of work.

If you sent me anything since about Jan 26th, and haven't heard from me, please resend. I'm not sure when things were supposed to start forwarding, but I seem to have missed a lot. Several people have told me things were coming back to them.

I'm changing addresses with everyone when I remember they don't have the new one, but seems I haven't caught up with everyone yet.... so, here is my new email for family and friends.

Losing track of what day it is.....

What a great Saturday!

Kind of hard to tell the days apart since I'm working on working..... finding a job, building our businesses, paperwork, forms, and more....

Today was special because I went to my granddaughter's birthday party and got to spend some time with family and friends. A big switch from working on working all the time!
I love playing with the kids. Took lots of photos. Hopefully will get them loaded on the computer tomorrow and sent out.

Off to bed soon so I can be alert in church tomorrow. :)

Fat and Sassy.....

Well, feeling fat anyway!

Had a nice lunch today with friends from my old job. Seems funny to call it that since it's only been a short time since I was there. But it is.... my old job.
The friends are the best still! I do hope we will still get together sometimes as time goes on. Maybe they'll remember to invite me when they have lunches out for other folks. Hope I can go when they do!

I worked the last two days in my jammies, so it was different to get dressed and go out this morning. Luckily after rush hour traffic. I sure don't miss THAT!

The job club meeting was interesting today. I took a lot of notes and thought of ways to apply what the speaker was saying to what I'm doing. I can see ways to make it fit. It was definitely worth the time to go.

I collected a few more business cards today. I can see right now I'm going to have to find a box for them, or one of those books, before they are all over the place!

Tonight is stamp group with the girls and working on a scrapbook for my granddaughter's birthday. Tomorrow afternoon is her party. Better get busy!

My prayer since the beginning.... well, after the initial shock of not having a job after 20 years of loyal and dedicated service.... that God will put the job in front of me that I'm supposed to have and I will get it, if that is His will. Since the job hunting hasn't been going very well, must be that we are supposed to pursue our dreams.
Photography and helping families. We are working on some ideas to make them both be very rewarding AND support us. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

We are very busy going to networking meetings and events, and a couple of social things too.
Our next parenting class is scheduled to begin Feb 23rd! Now to get busy to fill it.

If the gremlins would just stay out of the "little" things, I could certainly focus a lot easier on the "big" things! Why do some things have to be so complicated!
E has been having challenges getting my old email into some format at home that I can easily get to it. There is a lot of stuff in there that I want to be able to access! It's very frustrating, for both of us. I haven't been able to get to any of that for days. Hopefully he just found a solution.

Going to what sounds like a promising networking meeting tonight. It's along the lines of what we discussed at the business counseling session earlier this week... Tuesday, I think. Hard to keep up with what day it is when I'm working at home!
I do like it tho. Sleep when I'm tired, work late nights, eat when I'm hungry. Very busy all the time tho.

Must go work out soon! Better get ready!

Busy Day!!!

Hit the ground running today and haven't slowed down yet!
Lots of phone calls, paperwork to fill out and stuff to gather up for insurance, early retirement, etc..... not to mention the task list from the SBA counseling yesterday.
So many things to consider. What is God calling us to do? Seems to be pointing us in the direction of building our businesses so we can help families grow closer and children grow up to be responsible, respectful and make good choices.
And of course to pursue our artistic goals and dreams with our photography business.
So many things pointing in that direction.

We put the white board up to keep everything in front of us. Don't want anything important to slip through the cracks.... now to remember everything we need to put on the board! Open to suggestions!

New beginnings..

We had a very encouraging meeting with a small business adviser this morning! I'm feeling REALLY good about being self-employed. It's not so scary after all!
There have been so many things pointing to this being the best option, starting with the phone call within the hour of my coming home on Nov 30th when I got my pink slip (wasn't even pink!). The phone call was from a foster parent who needed more credit hours before the end of December. We taught a Redirecting Children's Behavior class in Kyle. All of the jobs I've applied/qualified for pay only about 2/3 of what I was making after 20 years with UT. I'm only two months from being able to take early retirement. There are just so many things pointing us in this direction, that it's really hard to ignore what must be God's plan for us.
Besides, I don't want to live under a bridge! So, best get busy pursuing our dreams!

The first Monday.... on my own....

Slept in a bit this morning to catch my breath since it's my first Monday unemployed, ...I mean self-employed. Of course, since I didn't go to bed until after 2 (that's what happens when you're self-employed), I didn't sleep in that much! Got up at 9:00.

Had to go by the office this afternoon anyway to clean out the rest of my desk. Fun stuff. It was weird being a visitor!

Have to go back tomorrow for some copies of paperwork to turn in to different places.
Everyone was glad to see me. No tears today. Just lots of hugs. "Someone" (yes, I know who but I'm not telling) even said to me it was good that I came in because they have to get used to my not being there gradually.

It's not the end in some ways. I will see my "family" - just not as often as I have.
And you can follow me on this blog. I'll hopefully have a few minutes to post daily.

This is the day the Lord made - I'm rejoicing!

Seems He's given me a bit of peace over this whole situation. Faith is a wonderful thing!
I chatted with lots of folks at church this morning. I feel pretty good about working our businesses. They say if you do what you love, you don't have to work a day in your life. I do LOVE taking photos and all that goes into creating the sets, and of course, playing with the kids! I also love helping families to become closer and less stressed from the parenting classes. So, maybe that's what HE is telling me to do. I'm sure not having any luck finding a job that pays decent.

I've been working on paperwork today for early retirement, etc. Lots of forms!
We are meeting with a small business counselor this week to get us really focused on what we need to do. I'll be out heavily marketing then!

Keep us in mind for any photographic work you need. We do all kinds! Not just the really fun kid stuff. We enjoy it all.

Learning to eat more healthy & making decisions....

Went to a free class at the Rec Center this evening for several reasons. It was a class on learning to eat more healthy foods, presented by a dietitian. Great presentation, and because I was one of the first people who signed up online a week or so ago, I got a free hardback copy of the Sonoma Diet book. Now to actually crack the cover....

Also, I thought it would be a good opportunity to network - meet some local folks, advertise our photography business and parenting classes. It was. I met some really nice people and gave out a few cards. Drove the rolling billboard so it was out there the whole time. They saved the first parking spot at the end of the row by the driveway just for me! Nice of them, I thought. Hopefully someone who wants some great portraits saw the car and will call for a session.

I'm seriously considering taking the unemployment for the next however long they allow that and focusing on building our businesses. There is potential (except for the poor economy) to make a much better income than I have been for 20 years, AND to make a difference in the lives of a lot of people by helping them to raise more confident, respectful, reliable children by teaching parenting classes, and with photography, to show people at their best in their portraits.
Praying to make the right decision about this!

Just beginning to learn about blogging....

OK, I found how to make SOME of this purple, but how do I get the PINK off the background!?! I'd rather have it a little more toward the purple. Not quite so bright!
